Hi Alyssa! Great to speak with you today!
Hi! Thanks for having me!
What have you been working on lately?
I have been gigging weekly and have been trying to write some new songs and learn some new covers! Hopefully I can get into the studio and record more original songs soon!
Who inspired you to get into music?
My grandma! She used to play guitar and sing and bought me my first guitar when I was 6. She taught me the basics and we would perform at my school.
When was the first time you recall thinking that you wanted to pursue music as your career?
I can't really remember a specific moment, I just know that ever since I was really little I have loved singing and songwriting and always dreamed of it as a career. I think a lot of my live performances have made me feel that this is what I want to do for my life.
What is your favorite song you've ever released and why?
My favorite song I've released is "Anxiety". This song is about my struggles with anxiety/panic disorder. For a really long time I was so ashamed of my anxiety and releasing a song about it really helped me realize how common mental health disorders are and that I shouldn't be embarrassed by it.
Who are some of the artists currently inspiring you? Taylor Swift will forever be my biggest inspiration. Her songwriting is just absolutely incredible. I also love Alanis Morisette, Sheryl Crow, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, and Miranda Lambert. Any plans to start performing live as shows pick back up? Yes! I have been gigging regularly in San Diego for a few months now! I love performing live and hope to continue and maybe travel to some new places to play as well! What is your favourite song to perform? My favorite original song to perform is my song "LIttle Miss Attention Seeker", which is a funny song and a crowd pleaser. My favorite cover song to perform would probably be "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree" by KT Tunstall or "Speechless" by Dan and Shay. What are you hoping to see in the music world as it continues to evolve? I can't think of anything specific, but during Covid it was cool to see that musicians take advantage of live streaming. Making your own music is now easier than ever with music software you can get on your phone and computer. It's exciting to see what else technology will do for music. Please let everyone know how they can keep up with you and your music! My website is alyssawalkermusic.com and you can find me on Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube @alyssawalkermusic! Thank you for your time!
