How the latest single Sour Patch Kid came to be with Modern Amusement AND MORE!
Where did the soul come from creating Sour Patch Kid?
Sour Patch Kid is a song that I wrote channeling that feeling when you're so angry that you don't want to do anything else but sit there and be angry for a while. A lot of the lyrics are actual things I'll do when I'm really ticked, blasting Weezer's Pinkerton really loud, watching violent horror movies and throwing things (and accidentally breaking them and feeling stupid later). I have always found that listening to loud, angry songs helps me calm down better than listening to actually calmer music, maybe because I can take comfort in the fact that the people who made the song have had the same feeling as I'm having. I wanted to make a song that could maybe do that for other people. How much love do you put into writing the record?
I put a lot of feeling into all my songs, they're like pieces of me that I'm putting out to the rest of the world so they're very important to me. I'm always going to put a lot of care into my songs! Have you performed the single in front of a live audience?
I haven't had a chance to play it live yet, but I have tons of shows planned for the new year coming up and I can't wait to add it to the setlist, it will be a fun, energetic song for live shows! What love have you received about the single?
Sour Patch Kid has been getting a great reception from a lot of my friends and family, which makes me really happy. I had someone say they were going to put it on their workout playlist, which means I did my job of making a high-energy track! Talk to us about what's next for you?
Sour Patch Kid is the first song to release from Modern Amusement's upcoming album which will be dropping some time in 2022. I'm super excited for people to hear it, we put everything in this one!
