How was "Fastest feet in the west" created? Get into the insightful interview with Foreseeing Fools below!

Where does the soul come from when you're writing?

For Jimbob his soul comes from his groovy fingertips. That man can create some amazing bass lines. Most of the time he can grab his bass and start messing around, and CC runs out and yells “Hey, what is that?” Jimbob says “I don’t know I was just playing around.” CC goes “Well, do it again and show me! I have lyrics that will fit that melody.”

“My soul is a mentally unstable one” which CC said with a grin and a girlish giggle. CC says a lot of the time she zones out and can think of lyrics. Will sitting in the passenger seat while Jimbob is driving or while Jimbob is talking about a project she has heard over 100 times. If she is really feeling upset, sometimes she can grab the guitar and write a rough draft of a song in one day. But she says that’s only happened a few times. Then CC went on saying “Occasionally getting inspiration can just be as easy as hearing a word that sparks an idea for a song. Bootleg Cigarette (one of our songs on our first EP) I was sitting there not paying attention to a documentary Jimbob was watching. But I did hear the words bootleg cigarettes and jumped up and started writing, within the day I had the song lyrics down.”

Although Foreseeing Fools members have different techniques to get their creativity out, it seems to mesh well at the end of the day. CC says, “If it wasn’t for Jimbob and his marvelous brain for helping with the structure of the songs, my words would never be able to reach as many people, if it wasn’t for him.” “Good thing CC started playing with me, I had no idea about social media and how important it is. She brought me up to speed. I guess sometimes she can whip out some killer riffs.” Jimbob said with a smirk and CC gave him an eye roll.

How do you mentally prepare to record a new song?

A few years back Jimbob converted their garage into a studio. The Foreseeing Fools said when it comes to recording, it’s not a stressful process. Because they have as much time as they need to get their music down and recorded. But they say they can’t honestly answer how they would mentally prepare if they went to a real studio. Foreseeing Fools are just a “DIY” kind of band. They say that really relieves a lot of pressure. That way they can focus on the music and not the money and time and not feeling rushed. “In the long run it was definitely worth the time and money to build our own studio.” Jimbob explained and CC nodded her head in agreement.

How long does this process usually take?

If you count all the time spent on writing, working through the songs and recording it can take about a year. They figure out their songs and play it for a year before they lay it down on their DAW software. “When it is time to record our next EP, the songs will completely change over a year's time.” They described with a laugh. The recording takes about three months. Foreseeing Fools members work a full-time job as well. Their day job is in Mine Safety, so they work on their music on the weekends and when they have free time. CC really enjoys the recording process. Her favorite part is the final result and hearing their hard work coming all together.

New music on its way?

The Foreseeing Fools are working on a new LP for 2022. They are having a blast creating new music. CC even gets to play with a slide on one of the songs, which she is super stoked about. Jimbob is working hard on his fast feet on that Farmer’s Foot Drum. He is getting pretty darn good on changing up drumbeats and moving those feet so fast you think the foot drum is going to fall apart. “If you take a close look at Jimbob’s high hat pedal, it is polished pretty well. You can see your reflection in it, no joke. That foot pad is oxidized aluminum and now it looks like chrome” CC announced proudly. She quickly added “Fastest feet in the west” with the two of them laughing.
