Hi Jayime! Thank you for speaking with me today!

Hello, and thanks so much for having me.

You are getting ready for a show in December! Will you tell us a bit about that?

I'd love to. After going through a extremely painful loss of one of my beautiful daughters, I pretty much gave up on all things creative or anything that could shake me from the grieving state I was in. A chance meeting online actually with another artist, Alex Henry Foster, was the illuminating light I needed to kick my ass back into life . It was almost like his bravery with the story of his own tragic loss and his magnetic power of strength I saw of continuing on, using his passions and gifts to heal, somehow all made sense. I started painting once again, and could not stop at all. It was like a force of divine power was running through my emotiones and I went with anything and everything that came to me...

So this upcoming show is really me opening my heart once again, and inviting new magical gifts to flow. By sharing my story through art, maybe it will reach someone who needs that inspiration like I was so lucky to receive.

You are going to be showing two collections, correct? Without giving too much away, what can attendees expect to see from them?

I actually have three collections for this show. 'The Colors that Surround You', the very first set of paintings for me getting back to creating, was totally inspired by music that melts my heart or makes me dance, think, and resonates with my emotions.

The second collection is 'Unlocking of a Dream', without sharing too deeply the meaning behind this collection, is based off a dream I had of two people who fell so deeply in love, yet fate had other plans for them almost like a beautiful burden. Each painting shows the two souls together, with the four lines that separated them those being train tracks for the love departure. I am still trying to wrap my head around this collection truthfully, it kind of haunts me like is this a message from a past soulmate, or some divine truth....wild.

What was the creative process for them?

Oh the process is not ordinary. I usually pop up with some kind of emotion, turn on some music, feel some type of way- happy, sad, romantic, sensual- you name it, how I feel is how I paint. No direction just blind faith in the process.

You also own a tattoo shop! How cool! How did that opportunity come about?

After years of designing clothing in LA, I got together with my husband, who is one of the areas best tattoo artist. I decided to put all my hopes into his passion and opened the very first tattoo shop in Redondo Beach, CA. It was no easy task. The city did not want tattoo shops in the area, and it took almost two years to actually get the green light. Once we did, it was gold from there. David did all the tattooing and I helped with all the tattoo art for the tattoos, and running the boring part of the business hahaha. It's a true mom & pop tattoo shop.

To anyone reading who is pursuing whatever their artistic medium is, what is a word of advice you would give them?

The honest most creative advise I wish to share with anyone who is looking for an outlet to create, visual, audio, anything really, is to always be yourself, trust your intentions, be bold and don't have fear to expose your true authentic self. And don't give up. Just do it for yourself and what you put out, you will get back.

Any other upcoming work you want readers to know about?

I am crossing my fingers on a possible future oppertunity to do an amazing show at a new amazingly beautiful hotel in Las Vegas in the Arts District, so I'm sending out an illuminating light of manifestation for that. Also a solo show is in the near future here in LA at two locations!

Please let everyone know where they can keep up with you and your amazing work!

I am woring on a new website www.mousecatpark.com where I will be offering only original artwork, and signed limited prints that should be up by Dec 2021. I have prints available at all times at www.jayimejean.com, and you can catch me dancing around, painting, walking through my home studio, 'mouse cat park', and even crying sometime or singing on my instagram @jayimejeanart... Best for the best always... & always look towards the light xoxojj

Thank you for your time!
