Hi Maro! It is great to chat with you today!
Great to be here!
You recently released your new song, 'Find Your Own Way'! Will you tell us about that?
Find Your Own Way is an upbeat, tropical house-rock song with a story that expresses the sigh of relief after the grief of parting ways with a (toxic) significant other, and the realization that their charm was a way for them to cover up their red flags.
What was the inspiration for it?
Both the producer and I, Gary Miller, at the time were in the “acceptance” stage of grief over our past relationships. We both saw the parallels between our relationships that made them toxic, and were able to bond over that topic, inspiring the song as a whole. From there, it flourished into the finished product you’re hearing on all music platforms!
What was the coolest part of the whole process for writing/recording this song?
The most interesting part of making Find Your Own Way was deciding which way to take the production of the song; whether to make it more chill and laid back, or colorful and upbeat. The percussive/rhythmic elements we chose to pit in the mix pulled it in the tropical direction, and it was then we discovered just with it needed.
Do you prefer the writing or recording process more?
I feel that’s a loaded question... but here’s why: they both offer different ends of the bat.
The writing process provides a song the firm handle it needs in order to reach the listener, a foundation if you will. When it comes to producing any song, it will ultimately change for the better, right? So, you bring the handle to the studio, and add onto it with the production it needs until that song hits a home run every time you listen to it.
It all comes down the the experience of both processes going hand in hand, not so much one or the other.
What is inspiring you right now?
As of recently, the feelings of freedom from the withering pandemic has continued to up my eyes and ears to new perceptions and ideas I haven’t yet written about. For example, now that I’m starting to feel like a normal person again, I am regaining a sense of self that I lost during those 14 months. That sense of self has been inspiring me to write more about me as opposed to my experiences with others.
Do you have any upcoming projects you want us to know about?
My next single, Magic Garden, drops July 2nd, and I plan to start the release of an EP come August, so stay tuned!!
Please let everyone know where they can keep up with you and your music!
Thank you for your time!
